THINGS TO DO
Where to start!! The North Norfolk coast boasts over 90 miles of glorious beaches, 6 of which hold the exclusive Blue Flag award. There’s something for everyone……couples, families, bird watchers, golfers and sports enthusiasts. Here’s our quick guide….
Beaches
With the best beaches in England, East Runton, West Runton, Cromer, Mundesley, Sea Palling and Sheringham are in the top tier of English beaches. However, Wells and Holkham beaches must not be missed and are right on our doorstep. Driftwood is in walking distance to Wells beach and Holkham is a very pleasant 2-mile stroll. Why not hire a beach hut for the day from The Happy Huts and book a seasonal bespoke hamper from A Little Bit of Luxury?!
Bird Watching & Photography
Norfolk is often referred to as the birdwatching capital of Britain. With rare visiting birds and a wealth of nature reserves, Titchwell and Cley are among the top favourites and are only 20 mins away from Driftwood. With plenty of marshland amongst the surrounding villages, you don’t need to go far to enjoy the natural beauty of the coast.
Norfolk’s Downton Abbeys
Due to wealthy landowners from decades ago Norfolk has a good array of beautiful stately homes from the Queen’s country retreat at Sandringham to the fabulous National Trust properties of Blickling, Felbrigg and Oxburgh Halls, along with Houghton Hall and Holkham Hall.
Golf
As a golf widower during the better weather the local courses at Royal Cromer, Brancaster and Sheringham are popular. The county is also blessed to have 2 top 100 18-hole layouts at the Royal West Norfolk and Hunstanton all approx. 30 mins drive away.
Walking & Cycling
The county offers over 1200 miles of walks, cycle and bridle routes so we really are spoilt for choice!! The Norfolk Coastal path runs for 84 miles from Hunstanton to Hopton-on-Sea.
